Dr Kerry Gunn
Dr Kerry Gunn is a Specialist Anaesthetist, at Auckland City Hospital. He has an interest in Liver transplant and trauma anaesthesia, which has led to an interest in coagulopathy and massive haemorrhage management.
He chairs The Auckland Blood transfusion Committee. Who have introduced a systematic change in blood product use throughout their hospitals. This includes guidelines on Massive Transfusion, TEG and coagulation management, red cell use and quality systems to reduce error and waste. They are currently looking at the effectiveness of systems and education to change blood prescribing practices and reducing inappropriate transfusion.
Kerry is on the NZ National Council of ANZCA, (Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists )the CPD (Continuing Professional Development ) Committee of ANZCA, and Chair of the NZ Anaesthesia Education Committee. He is also a Final Examiner for ANZCA.
